True Story of Iron Man the Movie

No doubt that many of you have already seen the new Iron Man movie that came out this past weekend. What you probably don't know is the struggle behind picking a style for the super hero. The movie was originally scheduled for release in 2002, but because of these pre-production problems it was delayed until now. Lucky for you, I've obtained some of concept art and costume replicas from those troubled times.

They originally cast the Olsen twins to play iron man and were going going to get something like this:


Realizing this wasn't going to appeal to the comic book crowd, they went with a more adult Iron Man, but replaced his blasters with Urinators to keep it family friendly.


They were finally making progress and decided to move forward. Costume design started and this happened:



I liked it, but they didn't. So they ditched the idea of costumes and instead painted an actual Iron Man.


Once painted he didn't look bad:


I still don't understand how they got that white in the center so bright. They must have primed the shit out of that poor brown man.
